Personal DNA

Juz a quiz i came across while surfing around. How true is it? I'm not very sure. You tell me.

Pretty much nothing else to blog about. Guess I'm spending too much time online... there seem to be lesser and lesser things to talk to people about. Hell... I'm even getting sick of asking how are you? and what are you doing now? Must find myself a gf... or get myself another hobby. Hobby seems a more fruitful and realistic idea. Going after gers are seemingly getting no where... Haiz.

Youtube!

On a lighter note, some stuff to sit back, relax and watch.

Haiz.

No, I am not going crazy. Just couldn’t think of a heading for my previous post. Heehee.

“We deceive ourselves when we fancy that only weakness needs support. Strength needs it far more."

-Madame Swetchine, The Writings of Madame Swetchine

I’ve been having a heavy heart this couple of days, and well, dun really feel I have anyone to turn to. Now I can truly understand what that saying really means. After being the strength for the people around me, I somehow dun feel that I can really turn to them with my problems, problems which are similar to the ones that I have been advising them on. How ironic can that be?

It seems so different when it’s actually happening to you, knowing that taking your own advice probably would help, but wanting it to come out of the mouth of someone else. Perhaps what I really need is a listening ear. Hearing you own voice debate with itself in my head doesn’t cut it. And the funny thing is that I don’t really feel the need for a listening ear till it is late into the night. When the world falls silent, then and only then it would finally set in.

I have been digging and pondering why this keeps happening to me, and even some of the friends that I used to tell have also noticed this trend. And when I step back and take a look at the past gals that I have gone after, save for the odd 1 or 2 that didn’t work out, it seems glaringly obvious. I have a distinct instinct if you might say, to go for someone who is not available, emotionally or otherwise, regardless of whether I know it or not.

Either they are already in that state or go into that state soon after I come into the picture, like the angel of death or grim reaper coming to the dead and dying. When people are in that state, they seem to somehow become attracted to me and me to them. It’s like living in some sort of vicious cycle that I can’t seem to get out of. And sometimes I wonder, whether I’m the cause of such things, or is my choice of potential partners really that bad/unlucky, or am I just doomed to come in at that sort of bad timing? Am I supposed to help fix the damage some other person has caused, only to have that person go off to someone else? Is there no God?

Somehow along the way, I also have seemed to grow numb to the fact that this is happening…a sort of resignation or acceptance, if it may be put in that way. But it still hurts all the same when it occurs. Perhaps I should be happy for them, for they found someone that suits them, maybe even better than I could have. But it doesn’t change the fact that I’m the one feeling left behind, and standing there alone. Sometimes I don’t want to let her slip away for me, but at the same time, it also pains me to be the thorn in her happiness, which is at the expense of mine nonetheless.

I’m also not sure about the ethics in it all. Yes, if I had a partner, I wouldn’t want anyone to be on the side trying to drive something between us. And I’ve always believed that do not unto others, what you do not want others to do unto you. But somehow, that would most of the time leave me falling short. On the other hand, if I do go ahead and be that thorn, can I, if I actually win over her heart, live with myself knowing what I had to do to get her? Perhaps I might grow horns then, telling myself that the best man wins, just so to sleep better at night.

That being said, I am compelled to ask myself sometimes, does the saying the nice guys finish last been such a glaring truth that I have been turning a blind eye to all this while? If that is the case, then what has humanity become? If being civil and thoughtful doesn’t cut it anymore, then I think it’s about time I stopped being the one who is different and gets left behind.

But alas! I am still the sucker for romantic endings, and the hope that one day, by some luck or chance, I will find my other half, and be not even need to be looking. Maybe I’m like the dodo, doomed to be extinct by no fault of my own but stubbornness and reluctance to react quickly to change around me. Maybe for the sake of self-preservation and sanity, I should be the go getter that lets nothing stand in his way. Maybe.

But after reading all this, about a handful, if any, would actually know what happened. Haiz. Love. Does it have to be so complicated? ARGH!!!

The rantings... of a raving lunatic??

I am back… again. Its now just past the mid of Nov and pretty much nothing much has occurred.

Took a little trip with Mom and bro to Kuching, Sarawak. I would have liked to blog about that place… but well, it was a disappointment of sorts. There was nothing much to see there, juz think a mix of present day Singapore with Singapore 30 yrs ago. You will pretty much get the idea of wad its like over there. Things are pretty cheap comparatively, but if u disregard the currency difference, it’s pretty much the same price.

Though I must say, the food that I ate there was either tasteless, or too salty. All the gravies, like curry and satay sauces, looked like they were watered down by a lot. They were generous with it, but it looked and tasted like 1 part gravy, and 2 parts water. Interesting enough, there was this coffee shop there, which was completely run by transvestites. From the moment I stepped in, I thought I had gone to Thailand by mistake. And the whole town area was within walking distance, so the buses there are pretty much pointless. Not to say that they looked like they got the old buses that Singapore scrapped many years ago. If I have the time I might upload a picture of one of the buses they had. And the services there, not only went by route number, they also ran by company. Service 2 from one company ran a different route from the service 2 of another. And they still have the conductor system. Go figure.

Flew there and back by AirAsia, and I must say, the security there is pretty lax. U scan your check-in luggage, pick it up then proceed to actually check it in! Anytime in between you are free to add/remove anything you want. The only thing that showed that it was scanned before is this security sticker, which comes off in one piece, completely defying its purpose. Not that it has one anyway. And on the way back, checked this box of stuff that I was supposed to help carry back for my mom’s friend, and even though they stuck “fragile” on it, it came back to me looking more like it got run over by the plane itself.

That pretty much sums up the whole trip. The next time I travel, maybe I’ll go to somewhere more picturesque or interesting. I hope.

Its almost 2am now, so I will blog again tml if I feel like it. Got some bottled up feelings that I’m not really sure whether I should say anything about. Ciao!

The new beginning?

I am back...with a new skin no less. Desiree has indirectly reminded me that I have a blog after what happened to hers. So I think I will be updating this page again... although with my current schedule, I don't think I would have much to write abt. But do stay tuned... I shall return... soon.

Update!

After such a long time, I have finally managed to get the layout of the blog completed. After much trial and error, I have come to realise that the preview button in the template page cannot be trusted. What you see there and what comes out after you publish is 2 completely different things. So in that aspect, the colour of the words in the previous postings will not change from their colour, though this post onwards will be changed. And if anyone out there knows how to get rid of the bar at the top, pls tell me. It is like a leech that cannot be removed.

On another note, I finally managed to pull Audrey out for the birthday treat that I was supposed to give her on her birthday but was put off because our schedules seems to clash all the way till the eve of national day, We went to Kushin-bo for Japanese Buffet, which cost me a bomb, but was well worth it. Too bad I was too busy eating and didn’t take any pics.

The restaurant was a nice. The ambience was warm, the food was great and I can safely say that if Aud goes back there too often, she would probably get banned. Hahaha… They had this special event thingy, where by they would give out lobsters, cotton candy, and some ice-cream in a pastry thing(cannot remember the name) at different times. And when they do, they would play this special music and announce that the special event was on, and how many customers would get it, on a first come first served basis. And dear Aud practically knew all the timings by heart, and was like a shark stalking for prey. 5 mins before the event, she would pull me up to loiter around the area where the distribution would take place and wait. And we were usually first in line. I say it would only be a matter of time before they change the timings just to throw Aud off! Hahaha!

But as I said before, it was worth it. Where else can u get free flow crab, sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, and other Japanese food? I would most definitely get fatter if I go there too often. I think if I had eaten wad I ate a-la-carte, it would have cost me at least a few hundred dollars. And now I will have to start dieting to lose the weight I gained from that meal. =X

But before I do that, I will finish my durian… Ciao!

Post World Cup

Well, as requested I am here to update my blog, post world cup.

I would say that the world cup this year was utterly disappointing. Except for the group stages, most of the matches where decided in either extra time or through penalty kicks. I spent on night with the guys at a friend's place to watch the semi-finals, England vs Portugal & Brazil vs France. Guess after watching those 2 matches, I decided that the only other match after that, that I was going to watch was the finals itself. Anyway, after the disappointing night, we left at about 5am and decided to do a clown car performance, squeezing 7 guys into a saloon car. I managed to get the front seat, and with that, a pic of the back seat. Haha…

Squeeze!

I think I can safely say that the most exciting moment in this world cup was the Zizou head-butting incident during the final match. The Italian guy most likely deserved it anyway, but rules are rules. Well, it’s finally over anyway. All the late nights/early mornings and all the bets lost and won. I hear that they are now selling the grass from the world cup finals, packaged for you to grow it in our front lawn (so u can tell your frens that you have a world cup pitch on your front lawn) or encased in acrylic and used as a paper weight. All for the cheap price of S$193. The perfect gift for a world cup fanatic. BTW, those who buy me grass as a present are gonna have to eat it in front of me.

Today I took a day off, though I feel it was somewhat of a waste, to attend my brother graduation ceremony at NUS. Lasted 2 hrs, but the time he took? 1 min. That was it. Walk up and receive the cert and off. The rest was all name calling, a short speech and that was it. I know I sound cynical, because it meant a lot to him, but well, I was hoping for more than that. Not to say that the lighting inside was horrible, making pic taking pretty hard. All I managed to get from the ceremony itself was abt 4 shots. And the refreshments given after that were awful. I think the only thing worth taking was the drinks. Hahaha… Well, its over for him, and my turn is next. Haiz, the pressure is already building, and the bar has been set. Pretty high I’d might add. Hope to at least meet the bar.

On the other note, I am currently changing my blogskin. I came across this very nice pic, and seeing how I can make it into a blog background. Anyway, I changed the background to that pic, so that you can get a preview. Till next time then. Ciao!

A tiring weekend

On Sat, whilst I was heading to the PC Show, I msged Ben and asked where they were meeting later to go eat, he said BP bus-stop at 5.30. Then I told him that TYY couldn’t make it and asked that the time be shifted back. He agreed, saying that they will delay time. Perhaps it was my fault for thinking that they were eating at BP, so after I bought my stuff, I rushed down to BP only to call them and have them telling me that they were caught in a jam on the way down to Marina Square! My ears nearly exploded when I heard those words. So I decided since I was already near home, I’d head home and drop off my purchases before heading down to Marina to join them at Yaki and Yuki by cab.

Well, when I got there, I was immediately called ‘saviour’ because they had taken too much food and since it was one of those all-you-can-eat buffets and wasted food went at $5/100g (works out to an amazing $50/kilo!). So I got down to cooking and finishing the food on the table before getting some sushi to eat. But I must say that they make lousy sushi. It was dry and pretty tasteless. Not to say that the prawn roe sushi was the worst that I have ever tasted. But the other food was not bad. I would say one of the saving graces of the place is the make your own ice-cream. It came in different flavoured liquids that you are free to mix as you wish, then pour it onto a chilling pan that freezes it into ice-cream. And there were also waffles that you could heat in a toaster for the ice-cream. All that just for $20+++ per person. Total Damage? $0. It was CW’s treat since he got a pretty high paying job this hols. Heehee… Now just have to wait for the rest to get jobs. Heehee… Ok I got a photo of the bill, but I dun think I will be posting it up. Too many essential numbers.

But I still got a few for ya! Tks to my new camera and lousy skills.

The two ‘gay’ buddies

The two ‘gay’ buddies again!

Ben’s famous work of art

After dinner after much debate, we decided to go for CS at Cuppage. All I can say is that it was a pretty outdated place. And the 2 buddies played pool nxt door cos’ they didn’t want to play CS. Play till 1am before we were all tired and headed home in cabs.

Reached home at almost 2am and decided that I should try to test my monitor so that if there was anything wrong with it at least I could bring it back to the computer fair to get it replaced. By the time I got the monitor connected and tested, which went without a hitch, it was already 4am. I somehow managed to drag myself to the bed before knocking out till 10 the next morning.

Woke up on Sun and started working on my installing my monitor. It was hell to do because of my computer table which has those concealed wiring things at the back. Had to literary rip all the wires out to remove the old monitor and install the new one. Took me till almost 5 before it was all working again. But the weekend of packing my room has gone to waste. Now my room is in a worst mess than before. Hahaha….

Once I confirmed all was working properly I rushed down to the BBQ at KW’s house. Managed to get there with the ice just as they were starting the BBQ. But I have to say sorry guys for not being able to help out with the preparations. I really would if I had the time. The BBQ was a pretty quiet affair. TYY again couldn’t join us, after putting the aeroplane on Sat. Next time perhaps.

Anyway, I’m on 2 days MC from Mon for the flu I’ve got, which turned asthmatic. Went to the polyclinic thinking it was a bad cough only, but I got an overzealous doctor who said it was minor, yet threw me all the drugs they use for major cases. And if it was major, the waiting time would have killed me. Waited for 4 hrs! If it was a serious case of asthma… I’d be dead already. But rest assured, I am still alive. Heehee…

Got to go now… Med is taking effect…

Another quick post

A quick update at this ungodly hr before I KO.

It's been an fast weekend, even though my weekend started on Fri. And I have an announcement to make. I am now officially BROKE. Period.
I spent my Fri, which I managed to get off on (amazing!), browsing the PC Show which was in town this weekend.

I finally decided that this was the time to get my long awaited camera, and since my monitor was dying as previously said, get a new monitor. I bought my camera on Fri from Sim Lim, which offered me the better deal (though I still feel I could have gotten a better one if I had haggled more). Got myself the Panasonic TZ1 with case and extra high cap. batt.
Total damage on Fri = $748

Next day I returned to the PC Show, bumping into JH and his gf on the way. Spent more than I had expected to. But it was all worth it. Bought my LCD monitor, 1GB memory card, cordless phone and a Bluetooth dongle.
Total damage on Sat = $666 ($665.20 actually but the rounded off number if I dun count the cents looks more appealing.)

There was also the after PC show thing that happened. But I will leave that till tml when I get the pics up. Ciao~

A quick post

Been dormant for about a month now, and finally I seem to have some time on my hands to enter a quick entry before I go sleep.

I have a confession to make, and that will be that I have gone back to playing Conquer Online (CO) again. But the recent update has killed a utility that I used to compress time and get around faster, so well I’m parking in town for now. Hence the time? Maybe.

Anyway, I’ve been meaning to blog, but either by the time I got to sitting down to type it out, I was either not in the mood or my mind went completely blank due to being overly tired. But I have finally managed to find the time, when I took an MC on Mon. Was intending to get one day MC to get some time out, but the doctor was willing to give me 2 days for my efforts. Who am I to complain about such a generous offer? So I got the 2 days MC. And let me tell you, suddenly it is heaven. When no one is home to bug me about doing stuff and sleeping too late, I suddenly have time to catch up on all the sleep I seem to have missed. Especially since last Wed I’d might add.

Well the month has passed pretty fast. With careful planning and considerations, I managed to get a super long weekend from camp with a mix of leave and off, starting from the Wed before my test to my birthday. Only went back to camp the following Wed, which coincidentally ended on Thurs due to the Vesak day hols. Hahaha…

On polling day(6th), went out with Wei Wen, Wendy, .com, Adam and a few others to celebrate with a movie and dinner, but well, without my debit card which has still yet to arrive, we were unable to get seats to see MI:III. So after wondering around for some time, we finally settled on a animated movie. The name has slipped my mind. .com had to go back home to vote while we watched the movie, and re joined us again for dinner, which was my treat. We went NYDC to eat and the food there was fantastic. Too bad Adam got into a fight with his gf just before we were going to meet for dinner so he didn’t join us. Hen-pecked I say… Hen-pecked guy and he’s not even married to her yet. Hahaha… After dinner Wei Wen took us to some roof top garden at a hotel I shall not mention. The view has nice, but has left me longing for the view from the top of the Westin Stanford, from the roof not the restaurant at the top. Anyone knows how to get there? Heehee…. So that is half a month gone, just like that.

If you are wondering what happened on Wed, well, I had guard duty. It normally would have not been that tiring except for the fact that there was an exercise going on that night, thus depriving me of any sleep whatsoever from Wed to Thurs. And talk that there was going to be an extra day off from all that work, were all but talk. So those of you living near the base, who were woken up on Wed night just past midnight, you now know why. So whilst the rest of the guard team took Fri MC, I hearing that Fri was family day, decided against doing so. But again, family day was not so good after all. It just meant that flying had to stop at 1630. That was all. So I took MC on Mon. Heehee… Turned out to be well worth it!

The IT Show is coming to town this weekend for those who are still unaware. And I won’t blame you too if you didn’t know. There seems to be the lack of publicity for this event. All there was was a small ad one day in the papers. Perhaps due to their past success, so they think that people would expect them this time of the year. Maybe they are right. We will see. Going to replace my present monitor with a 19” LCD and get myself that camera that I’ve been planning to get. My present monitor has been fading to black recently, and also been emitting this irritating ‘flat line’ sound, only at a higher pitch. So I have decided, its either I replace it now, with a good deal, rather than wait till it dies in the middle of some night and leave me scrambling for a monitor. I am so going broke this weekend.

Its getting late, or rather its getting ‘early’ now and I gtg sleep. Ciao~

A Long Absence...

Based on my previous post, it has been over a month since I last blogged. I am thinking, at the rate that I am blogging, perhaps I might just make it a monthly sort of thing. Hmmm… On the other hand, if I do that I might as well not blog anymore. Too tiring writing monthly reports in camp every month, and if I add this to the list, it will unwittingly become a yearly thing sooner or later. But… I will not do something like that, because blogging is actually fun if you just type and not think so much about it. But don’t worry; a fair amount of brain juice is used in the writing of an entry. That and the fact that, I am trying to cut down on the amount of Conquer Online that I am playing is why I am back. (I have been playing an obscene amount of it and I’ve not been levelling as fast as I would like to. I’m not quitting however, just cutting down.) Anyway, this is going to be a super-long entry. Brace yourself ppl.

Now for the updates.

March was the month that passed fairly quickly. One was oweing to the fact that the camp was in no government rule mode after our O’ dear pikachu fractured his ankle whilst running at some canal in CCK. I’ve heard of people twisting their ankle or spraining their ankle whilst running on uneven surfaces, but to fracture it by plain running? Talk about brittle bones.

Anyway, with pikachu and his funny ideas out of action for that month, the detachment running, and a number of people on course, the place was a haven. I think for that month alone, a record low number of 2 extras were awarded, and those who got it were surely the deserving. Short working hours were the order of the month, although the rain was surely a time extender. If things were not done by the time the rain came in, all would have to sit tight and wait the rain out. But still there were times that it came before any flying began and lasted the whole day, saving us from doing any work at all. Hahaha.

I think March passed pretty uneventfully. On to April.

April started with a conflict about the guard duty. In the last week of March, there was a Sunday guard belonging to the detachment crew that was coming back on the Friday that week, and they felt that they were unable to do the duty. So they got the person who plans the guard, to approach my team with a proposal, that we do their guard, and they would return the favour the following month. Which they had no intention of doing. But that is another entry on a later date.

April has also been marked with the return of the pikachu. He came back, armed with another episode of the famed, annual runway cycling. And he was looking for 20 people to send there as “representatives”. True to his style, when he needs “volunteers”, it’s best to be on your guard. A simple unpolished boot, un-Velcro-ed sleeve, or saying something wrong to him, would mean spending one sun cycling down a 3km runway in Paya Labar. Ya and if u are interested, it is open to public. =X

April also represents that my driving test in coming up. The test itself in on 5th May, so wish me luck. 2nd try, and I do not intend to make it a third. Hope I pass!

I finally got my letter of offer to UNSW Asia end of April. However, I can’t accept the offer till the middle of the year when they get the confirmation system up and running. When that happens, I must be 1st in line! Hahaha… The Kiasu Singaporean.

On to May now…

I’ve been writing this for over a week now, and everytime I start, there seems to be more things to write about. I have concluded that if I do not complete this entry, this hour, I might never have the chance or will to finish this. Ever.

Today is Fri, and a good day at that. I finally passed my driving! Yippee… But you should already know that from the previous entry. Anyway, met the rest of the pass-ers and came across this cute girl. But I dunno what got into me, and did nt ask for her number. All I can remember about her is… her name is Lee Yue ______, my age, passed on the 3rd try, studying at SIM and having her 1st paper this thurs. Her actual name slipped my mind… I’m only sure of her surname. Haiz. Those studying in SIM care to help? *hopes beyond hope* Drop me a msg if you have an idea who she is. Hee. >.<

Finally got myself the birthday present that I have been hoping for a whole yr. And none to soon too… Counting that my birthday is on Tues. *Hint Hint*

The camera I’ve been eyeing has also come onto the market, and things seems to be falling in place. Now if only my present monitor will last till the next computer fair… Hahaha… Seem to have a lot of things to buy this year. How to save at the rate I’m going…

One last thing before I end this off. Gd luck to all those having exams this time of the yr. Like those in SIM. *wink*

Till the next time. Ciao~

A quick update

It's been a long time since I have blogged and have been writing an entry for a week now. Can't seem to get it finished... Anyway, one quick thing tt I want to blog whilst I continue to attempt to complete the entry. Now for the thing that I need to say.

I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wheeee...!

I PASSED!
I PASSED!
I PASSED!

OK. I shall stop now. But there is still no car to drive. So those ppl who want to be cheauffered ard, you provide the car. Hahaha... You know who you are! Hahaha... back to work on the other entry.

Kanna Sabo

Today was a sucky day of sorts. Yesterday when I looked at the board, I had a 1X1 meaning one servicing with one marshalling duty. Then when I reported in, there was a delay, apparently because the pilots had to attend a lunch. If they had to go for lunch then fly earlier then go for lunch! But no. They wanted to fly after lunch. And since they took their time in getting back, the schedule had to be pushed back. So it was pushed till late afternoon. By then, the morning shift which had come quite early was let go, basically because the time was up.

They had the majority of the manpower due to the planning based on the earlier schedule that did not have the lunch factored in. This left my shift, which had a small number of people, to cover the flying that was meant for the morning shift, and we were severely shorthanded which essentially meant that instead of a 1X1, it became a 3X2, with 2 more servicing pending. To make things worst, there were enthusiastic pilots that insisted on trying to push all the ground runs right before nightfall which is at 7pm. So we being the pawns have no choice but to squeeze what they want to do. Haiz… Damn shag from all this. Ended up doing a lot of things for nothing, because in the end, they didn’t have enough time to fly anyway. Welcome to the force that is “like nothing on earth”.

Long overdue update.

It has been a tiring month of sorts. That’s also most likely why I have not been blogging for over a month. Or rather I have been blogging of sorts. I’ve been writing this entry from the 23rd of February. World’s longest writing of a blog entry? Perhaps. It’s just that I haven’t been able to finish it. Till now that is… So let me rewrite the whole thing and start from where I began.

I had a tiring time in the week before the 23rd. Took 2 guard duties in the space of a week. The earlier one on the 15th was a trade with my friend Desmond; he’s doing my guard on the 25th so I get to go to Asian Aerospace 2006. =) But I must say, I really pity him and his guard team. The avionics man in his team is really screwed up. Let’s call him A for ease. There are already so many things to do as the guard team, to get a person like A is sickening. He does the minimum, the bare minimum to get him by. Meaning if it is possible for any of the rest of us that is able to do something, he will act blur till we do it.

Take for an example, servicing an aircraft. A 3-man team – Avionics takes the fastest to check their systems. After completing their checks, the usual is to help out the rest of the team. After all, we are only as fast as our slowest person. He would rather sit inside the aircraft and stone/ play with his hp/ sleep rather than get off his butt and help out. But fine you don’t want to help, so be it. He has the cheek to say, “When you guys need help, tell me…” when he sees that we have finished doing everything. To top that off, the guard has extra duties, which all 3 of us are supposed to do. The usual practice is to split up the duties. After splitting, and agreeing to what we should do, we go on to do it, finding out after which, A has not done his part, and has been sitting there watching TV! Grr… If not for the other guy in the team, who was also cursing and swearing at him, I would have killed A, and buried him somewhere in the base. That is the last time I’m doing guard with him. Period.

Spent the weekend after the 23rd going to Asian Aerospace 2006 with Wendy and Vijay on Sat. We all duly got burnt to a crisp just by staying outside to watch the aerial display. On the whole, the exhibition was somewhat of a disappointment, esp. when compared to the show in 2004. The aerial display was the most disappointing. Gone were the acrobatic flying teams, what was left were only a couple of aircraft doing spins and loops, I think only the F-15 and the Airbus A380 was worth watching. Also, there was a sore lacking of souvenirs, the biggest thing there was a Asian Aerospace poster, with an autograph session with some US pilots, which looked like the organiser’s attempt to make up for the shortfall.

Walked around till all of us were burnt and tired, then we ran into Kent, Yulong and gang. More like Yulong and his friend whose name I cannot remember only because the rest of them were queuing for the autographs and couldn’t find their way back to where we were. Hahaha… Direction-less ppl.

After the Asian Aerospace, Wendy and I were supposed to go shopping (That is another long story, which I would not blog about.), which at the end of the show, she ‘pang sei’ me to go drink coffee with her friend. =( So it ended up with Vijay and me taking a rest at the food court in White Sands, while taking our long over due lunch. We sat there and slacked till about 6, before heading for home.

The next day, I was supposed to go swimming, but in the end I decided against it because I wanted to stay out of the sun for at least a few days after getting burnt pretty badly. So I spent the rest of the day slacking at home. On Mon however, I got burnt a second time, due to getting 3 aircraft servicing starting from 12pm. By the time I was done, it was 4 going 5, and I was once again crispy. The rest of the week was not much better, and I think if Fri if I didn’t get a medical appointment and had to go back to camp, I’d be a prime candidate for cancer due to overexposure to the sun.

Anyway, I was supposed to go to Sabbie’s birthday party at aloha changi on sun night, but after checking with the rest of the guys, whom none of which were going, because they either had to book-in, booked-in or simply had something else to do. Perhaps it was because she only told us about it less than a week before the event. But either way, most of them would be her church friends going, and since I wouldn’t know anyone there besides her if the rest didn’t go, I decided to give it a skip.

I have also resumed my driving lesson, in preparation for my test in May. Haiz… Why must the time between each test be so long?? I know that there are a lot of people trying to take the test, but why must they limit it to about 20people/day? If they constantly tested, maybe once every 2 hrs, then the test waiting won’t be in months, but rather in weeks at least. But there is no point in moaning about it. May 5th is my test and I will do all I can to pass this time. I don’t want to waste anymore time and money.

Back to the present, this week has gone well so far, Wendy has been getting a bit closer to me of late, but on Sat I skipped going out with her after her OT at her attachment and I think she is still angry at me for that. But I really had no mood to go out that day, after getting “put aeroplane” by 2 people in a row. Hmm… Could this be a sign?? I’m not really sure. But I think I’ll stick around to find out. This could have good results. And since I’m not really after anyone else, I got nothing to lose in this case. Hahaha… I know I’m making it seem really calculated. =X

Yesterday, there was a power outage in camp for most of my shift, and my shift being the night shift sure didn’t make it any better. Walking around in the dark is one thing, but the building without air-con is really suffocating. It also made all the work slower, so much so that a job that would have been completed by 10.45 was only done at about 12. So by the time I got home, it was 12.30. Lucky thing is that I don’t have to work so early today.

I got to go prep for camp, so I will end off here for now. Ciao. Till then.

Handwriting Test

Came across this while surfing: Handwriting Wizard

Handwriting Analysis of Leonard Chai
Provided free by HandwritingUniversity.com
Programmed by the Faculty of Handwriting University.com

***** Introduction to Handwriting Analysis *****
Handwriting Analysis can identify your sub-conscious and conscious personality traits. These traits relate to your behavior, motivations, sexuality, ambitions, and other personality variations. It can also tell you about your ambition, the fears that you've suffered and developed since childhood, emotions, as well as current feelings and frustration at the time of the writing sample. Now, this on-line self-test does not pretend to replace the wisdom and experience of a professional handwriting expert. Only a veteran can spot the subtle distinctions of a pen lift, pen stroke, or tiny angle that could be the difference between a good trait or a bad trait. However, this "Handwriting Wizard" self-test has been proven surprisingly accurate, despite the obvious problem of using a novice's eyes to spot and translate the information into the computer. We hope you are impressed and convinced that learning handwriting analysis for yourself can provide a lifetime of benefits.

Many people wonder why handwriting analysis is so accurate despite the fact their handwriting seems to "change all the time." While it is true that handwriting can detect moods at the time of the writing sample, usually only a few of the hundreds of traits change over a period of time. The emotional traits revealed in handwriting tell the emotional response of the person at the time the writing sample was written. These can vary with the person's mood. Most personality traits will be revealed regardless of mood change or emotional circumstance. Therefore, handwriting delivers the best of two worlds: the present state of mind and the overall disposition someone. For complete answers to dozens of Frequently Asked Questions, please visit our FAQ page. http://myhandwriting.com/FAQ/

In addition to "depth of feeling" and "emotional responses" that are shown in handwriting, hundreds of individually identifiable personality traits are evident. These include traits such as self-esteem, self-confidence, goals, fears, defenses, sensitiveness (and in which areas), initiative, enthusiasm, sexual needs, and the list goes on and on. What's more, you can even change yourself by using the new science of Grapho-Therapy.
Handwriting Analysis is used by top corporations worldwide, private institutions, psychologist, and even the FBI. Because of the growing acceptance of this tool to identify personality and assist in predicting behavior, handwriting analysis is quickly becoming a favorite field of study from amateurs to professionals.

******* The Analysis Starts Here *******
For a graphologist, the spacing on the page reflects the writer's attitude toward their own world and relationship to things in his or her own space. If the inputted data was correct Leonard has no white space or margins on a typical sheet of paper. Leonard fills up every last inch on the top, right, left, and bottom. Hmmm. If this is true, then Leonard has a very aggressive personality toward others and quite frankly lacks a bit of respect for the space and property of other people. I would be surprised if Leonard just comes into someone's home and helps himself to a drink in the refrigerator. This can be both an obnoxious personality trait and it can be assertive and effective in getting what you want. There isn't much fear of getting in trouble here, Leonard finds plenty of reasons to break the rules and get in trouble. (Okay, perhaps when he was younger, not anymore?) Basically, people with no margins are a handful.

Leonard has a healthy imagination and displays a fair amount of trust. He lets new people into his circle of friends. He uses his imagination to understand new ideas, things, and people.

Leonard is sarcastic. This is a defense mechanism designed to protect his ego when he feels hurt. He pokes people harder than he gets poked. These sarcastic remarks can be very funny. They can also be harsh, bitter, and caustic at the same time.

Leonard is a practical person whose goals are planned, practical, and down to earth. This is typical of people with normal healthy self-esteem. He needs to visualize the end of a project before he starts. he finds joy in anticipation and planning. Notice that I said he plans everything he is going to do, that doesn't necessarily mean things go as planned. Leonard basically feels good about himself. He has a positive self-esteem which contributes to his success. He feels he has the ability to achieve anything he sets his mind to. However, he sets his goals using practicality-- not too "out of reach". He has enough self-confidence to leave a bad situation, yet, he will not take great risks, as they relate to his goals. A good esteem is one key to a happy life. Although there is room for improvement in the confidence catagery, his self-perception is better than average.

Because Leonard has sharp needle pointed 'm' and 'n' humps, he has a very sharp mind. He instantly sizes up situations, making instant decisions. He thinks and evaluates circumstances very rapidly. Many people with this type of mind are geniuses, thus he may be seen as highly intelligent. Leonard is often irritated by slow talkers or slow thinkers. If he drives, he gets irritated by slow drivers in the fast lane. He quickly becomes bored when being taught on the level of the slowest student in class. He may be on problem number three when the rest of the class is on problem one. Leonard is curious and very active. In fact, in school he might have been a trouble maker because he thought so much faster than the other kids, he finished his work first, thus having plenty of time on his hands to make trouble!

Leonard is not facing something going on in his life today. He is deceiving himself about it. Often, Leonard's opinion of himself is different than those around him. This trait gives Leonard the ability to deny anything that does not agree with his "truth." This trait is not always something negative. It is only a defense mechanism allowing Leonard not to face some reality in his life at this time.

Leonard will demand respect and will expect others to treat him with honor and dignity. Leonard believes in his ideas and will expect other people to also respect them. He has a lot of pride.

Leonard is moderately outgoing. His emotions are stirred by sympathy and heart rendering stories. In fact, he can be kind, friendly, affectionate and considerate of others. He has the ability to put himself into the other person's shoes. Leonard will be somewhat moody, with highs and lows. Sometimes he will be happy, the next day he might be sad. He has the unique ability to get along equally well with what psychology calls introverts and extroverts. This is because he is in between. Psychology calls Leonard an ambivert. He understands the needs of both types. Although they get along, he will not tolerate anyone that is too "far out." He doesn't sway too far one way or the other. When convincing him to buy a product or an idea, a heart rendering story could mean a great deal to him. He puts himself in the same situation as the person in the story, yet he will not buy anything that seems overly impractical or illogical. Leonard is an expressive person. He outwardly shows his emotions. He may even show traces of tears when hearing a sad story. Leonard is a "middle-of-the-roader," politically as well as logically. He weighs both sides of an issue, sits on the fence, and then will decide when he finally has to. He basically doesn't relate to any far out ideas and usually won't go to the extreme on any issue.

People that write their letters in an average height and average size are moderate in their ability to interact socially. According to the data input, Leonard doesn't write too large or too small, indicating a balanced ability to be social and interact with others.

The revival

Based on my last entry, it has been 26 days since I touched my blog. With all the things that have been happening, esp. CNY and all, I was too tired to blog all this while. I shall now take some time to revive my blog. *Casts revive* I will attempt to update all that has happened from then till now, but I will make it as short as possible, to spare the ppl reading it, and my poor fingers.

It is hard to imagine that CNY has ended for this year. The whole 15 days. It zoomed by so fast, although the preparation for it took much longer than that. I still have leftover pineapple tarts, cashew nut cookies and, fruit cake from CNY. All of which were painstaking made in the weeks before the New Year. But it does explain why I am getting heavier by the day. Time to consider another diet. Haha.

On another note, I have seemed to be developing a phobia of motorbikes, poles and taxis. It could be attributed to the fact that I have almost banged a motorbike. Also to the fact that on my driving test, kanna sabo by a motorbike and a pole. Taxis are just irritating the way they seem to stick to your bumper when they are behind you. It’s a long story, but just to make it short, if that pole I grazed didn’t fall, and that motorbike did not exist, I would be the proud owner of a brand new driving license. But alas, it was not to be.

The main complain which I got from my instructor was that I am not aggressive enough on the road, or perhaps overly cautious. Maybe he’s right. I should not wait for people too long, just make the move if the chance exist, how small it maybe. And I think that it should be restricted to my driving, rather on my life as well. I don’t take enough risks. Learning to drive has also got some life lessons in it.

Asian Aerospace 2006 is just round the corner, and I’m hoping that this year will be nice. The last time I went in 2004, it was some sort of a disappointment, partly because I went on a Sun. I’m not making that mistake again this year. Since this is the last year this show will be held in Singapore, before they move to HK, I hope they intend to go out with a bang, not literary of course.

Off to get the tickets before I head to camp. Going to work till midnight again. Sianz.

Anyway, today is Valentine's day. Happy Valentine's Day to all! Ciao.

Music

If you have noticed, the music to my blog is gone. And I will not be putting up a new one soon. If you have been following the news recently, I think it was last week, you would probably know the reason.

There has been is fiasco lately about the music industry saying that now embedding music in a blog or web site has always needed a license. They even said, the licenses were cheap, only about $5000 a month! That is only if you do not allow other people to download the song being played. WTF! People are giving your music free publicity, and you want to charge them! What is this world coming to?

Next thing you know, if you play a song at an event like a fun fair, or some party, they would be asking you to pay to do so. Everyone who buys a CD would have to lock themselves in a soundproof room so that only they can hear the music and no one else, or face being forced to pay for a license. CDs would come with the warning label: For buyers ears only. You never know.

On another note, didn’t blog over the weekend because I was busy helping my mom shop for New Year things, and cooking the pineapple for tarts. Cooking the pineapple involved grating the pineapple, before cooking it in a pot for 6 hrs, stirring constantly so it doesn’t stick. My hands were totally wasted after all the stirring, but I got the reward of freshly squeezed pineapple juice. Which incidentally drank a little too much, and it dried up my lips. Haiz… I’m still feeling the effects, 4 days on.

Got to go to camp, I will continue blogging another time. Ciao.

Sun! On Friday the 13th

I finally got a glimpse of the sun today! Although it was amidst a slight drizzle, it was a welcome sight. The drizzle also stopped soon after anyway. After all that rain, everything was getting kind of damp, so it is nice to have a bit of sun today. I know that there are people breathing a sign of relief that the sun has finally decided to come out of its long holiday. I know I have a MSG who has been at home ironing all his clothes dry for the past few days. He was starting to consider buying a dryer… Hahaha…

It still drizzled every few hours, but they lasted no more than ½ an hr. I got stuck doing the servicing for 2 post repair aircraft. Problematic job… One of the aircraft was actually still in a few pieces, and had not been completely assembled yet. Still had to make do and complete the task. Good thing that they are not actually flying that aircraft yet. It still needs some test first.

Anyway, as predicted, the squadron is flying tomorrow due to the rain this past week. Lucky thing is that I have been allowed to go for an off day, one reason is that I have a driving lesson, and another is that next week I got to go back for guard duty on Sat anyway. Whew~ waking up early to go to camp on a Sat is simply not a good thing. Guess that Friday the 13th is not that unlucky after all. It has been my lucky day for some years now. Heehee.

On another note, this morning when I was preparing to go to camp, I switched on my monitor to shut down my computer which was running the night downloading stuff, and an amazing thing happened. The monitor lit up, before fading to black right in front of my very eyes! Then a few seconds later, jumped back to life, as if nothing had happened. Maybe this is a sign for me to start monitor hunting. If I have to change my monitor, perhaps I might take the opportunity to upgrade to a LCD. Only problem is, I got a budget for a digital camera that I’m looking to buy, but not one for a monitor. Haiz. Hope it doesn’t die too fast. Time to rob the bank again I guess…

Think I better stop here and continue tml. Got an early driving lesson tml. Crazy me took a 7 am slot. Ciao.

Nice Weather

The weather has been pretty good this week, though I know there will be a number of people who beg to differ. Starting from last Sat, it has been raining almost constantly. This has kept the whole of sg pretty cool, too cold for some in fact. Except that water is constantly falling from the sky, which seems to come in an endless supply, it’s nice to go around with the whole island feeling slightly air-conditioned. On the down side, my house is slowly filling up with wet laundry, with the fan running constantly to dry the clothes. And if it keeps raining, I will have to go back to camp this Sat and the one after that in order for them to fulfil the amount of flying hours per pilot. Mind you, in this case it will be considered a working day and no day-off will be awarded. Haiz. Also, I think I haven’t seen the sun in over a week, and I’m starting to wonder if its still there. Hahaha…

Anyway, I’ve been having this quarrel with this encik in my camp for the past week, practically coinciding with the rain. Hmm… This encik in camp is this old fossil, who always feels that his view of things is always the bigger, clearer, and better picture than the one anyone else sees, his methods are always the better ones, and claims to be a modern warrant officer who actually listens to the suggestions of his men.

I have found this to be very contradicting, because whatever suggestion is given, give him 10 reasons why it is a good suggestion, he will give you 11 why his idea is better. And when he knows he can’t win, he will say that the decision is his and he has decided his idea is better. End of discussion. I even offered him alternatives, which required 3rd parties to agree. Expecting the other party not to agree, he agreed that if I can broker the deal, then it is settled. But once I have completed the deal, he comes back and says that it was subjected to his approval. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother trying to reason with him. It’s a dead end anyway.

On another note, I think I shall try to increase the frequency of my blogging, even though, like this week, the weather is so nice to sleep with that it’s been making me lazy to get off my bed to blog. I'm starting to get complains about it. Des, just for your info, my blog has just been updated. Hahaha… Still thinking whether I should pay 5 bucks to travel all the way to Potong Pasir on Sun, just to listen to Desiree and gang destroy music. I just might be crazy enough to do so. Ciao.

New Year

2005 has been a blast of sorts, and 2006 has finally arrived. How time really flies. It seems just like last month that 2005 was starting, and now it’s 2006. Well, now comes the time for most people to make resolutions, most of which would probably never be fulfilled within this year or the next or the one after for that matter. But one must have a target in life, or life would all be pretty aimless wouldn’t it? So as not to become an aimless soul in this sea of lost souls… Here are my New Year resolutions:

1) Complete the packing of my room & keep it in that pristine condition for a min of 3 weeks. (Very long leh!)
2) Pass Driving!!! No car… but one thing at a time.
3) Start brushing up on my past poly work. Forgot all liao… Chiam.
4) Finish reading the list of books I want to read. (The books & not just the list)
5) Change my blogskin.
6) Find a girl I like & not drive her up a wall or off a cliff going after her. Heehee.

I think this should last me a whole year. Whether or not this list joins the many others not going to be completed will have to be seen. Though I am open to suggestions on how these can be quickly completed.

Anyway, spent my new year watching movies, before switching to the countdown on tv. The countdown looked pretty lack of life from the tv, although the fireworks looked nice. I was pretty lazy or I am sure I could have found friends who want to go nearby there just to see the fireworks. One of them is that walking stick Old Fun. She seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth recently, but I’m sure if you went to mount faber/ harbourfront area, she would be there somewhere. Unless she really walked till she fell off the edge of the earth, which now seems a very likely possibility. Hahaha… Anyway, all the best to all for the New Year! Ciao.

P.S. That anonymous person on e tag, wanna try to say your real name? A new year as an anonymous is not a good thing...
