Haven't really had the time to sit down and blog for the past few days, so I'm going to do so now.

Friday 26th August

Took today off because of my advanced theory test in the afternoon. In the morning, woke up late for my driving lesson. Rushed all the way down and managed to make it there with 1 minute to spare. Talk about being on the dot! I then took the usual drive to the Boon Lay area to practice the turns and starts. It’s quite intimidating at times to drive around the Boon Lay area due to all the big trucks around. They are always impatient, and when they overtake you, they pass very close. It could be due to their size, but stay clear of me! Shoo! Haha~… Slowly getting used the having them around, though there are still the very unwelcoming aggressive ones that would flash their lights and horn at me. I feel blessed that I would not need to drive around here during the test. I surely hope that Bukit Batok is better than Boon Lay. Anyway, after I finished my lesson, wanted to meet Audrey for lunch, but decided against it after browsing through my theory book. There was suddenly a lot of things in the book that I do not recall reading before! Took one look and the words “Die liao” came to mind.

So I rushed home to cram for the test later that day. And I’m glad that I did. Went for the test, and some of the things that I’d just discovered came out in the questions. And since the test is now computerised, I got my results instantly too… and… *drum roll*

I PASSED!

Whee! One more hurdle cleared in my quest to get a driving license! The rest of the day was spent with me playing Need For Speed: Underground 2 as part of the celebrations. How befitting? =p

Saturday, 27th August

Met the gang for basketball in the morning today. But as usual, all were late. We were supposed to meet at 8, but by the time I got there it was almost 8.45. And poor TYY was playing chauffer to Chiang Wei. Started playing and not too long after we started, was Chiang Wei knocked out with an injury to his ankle. The coincidental thing was that the moment that Chiang Wei got injured, the Stranger showed up. Was it pure coincidence or was he waiting for a slot to open? Haha... And it doesn’t end there! Later in the day, he also got an ankle injury! *pengz* Guess replacing CW wasn’t such a good thing. We played back to back game with only a short break in between. No need to say that by the end of the day, I got sunburnt.

Halfway while playing, a volleyball team moved in around us and the ball started to go out of play more often, with TYY going to pick the ball up more often. Haha… We ended our game at about 12, with TYY graciously sending most of us home. Thanks dude.

The rest of my day was spent mostly continuing my celebrations for passing by playing, none other than Need For Speed. Now you know why I didn’t have time to blog.

Sunday 28th August

Spent most of the day helping my dad put up some shelves. The rest of the day was spent cleaning my room. The funny thing about the dust in my room was that the dust seems to stick to the floor. I wonder why. Vacuuming seems to get most of it out but there are the mutated dusts that only come off when I mopped it. Hope my room stays this clean for some time. Haha…

Monday 29th August

Went to camp at the unearthly hour of 6 am! It’s a Monday leh! But bo pian. The only comfort was that I could take a cab to camp and claim it later. Managed to get off at about 2.30 pm, went home to catch up on my sleep.

Boring Week

It’s been a pretty wet week. The good part has been that I’ve not seen any hint of the haze. The bad part is that it always rains when I don’t want it to. Like when I want to go home from camp. I’m starting to feel that the cloud seeding in Indonesia is being done in the wrong area. Hmm… Don’t believe that Aug is a rainy season, but rainy beats hot and humid any day.

My week has been pretty much the same day in day out. Went shopping for a new haversack on Sat due to my old one giving out some funny black stuff that sticks to whatever I place inside. It has been doing that for sometime, but I finally decided that I have had enough of it. Sun slept late and by the time I woke up, it was lunch time. Went out for lunch, before following my mom to Ikea to get some shelves. That took up most of my day. Got back and decided to pack my room a bit, but it still looks pretty bad. Didn’t have time to complete the packing, so now my room has gone from a post-typhoon look, to a still-in-construction look. An improvement by me, but still pretty bad it seems. Hahaa…

Stopping all my packing temporary due to the fact that I have to study for my advanced theory test on Fri. Still don’t quite get what questions that they could ask from the book, so if any of you have taken the test already, care to give me an insight? I would really appreciate it.

Back to studying now before I make my way to camp. Ciao~

Sianz~

My Sat passed pretty uneventfully, although I almost went for a basketball game that the guys cancelled due to the lack of people and forgot to inform me of this new development. So there I was, about to go out of the door, I msged TYY to tell him that I might not make it in time. He gave me a call just in the nick of time, with me having one foot out the door. It’s a lucky thing that he woke up, because apparently, he was still asleep when my msg went through. Tks TYY.

Later in the day, wondering how come there was no call from the sqn regarding my shift timing for mon, I decided to call back only to discover that I was doing guard duty on Sun! Bummer! Prior to that call I was still thinking of who was going to Daniel’s farewell party in case I was left there with no one but Daniel and Audrey. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Sorry Dan, duty called.

It’s pretty demoralising to be waking up at 6.30 to go for breakfast before heading to camp on a Sun. Doing that on a Mon is bad enough, but doing something like that on a Sun, totally saddening. To top it off, I have to walk all the way into camp, without any hope of a lift from the people driving into camp due to the simple fact that there is no one else going to camp. The good part is that I need not change to coveralls when I get there. The whole day I could wear whatever I pleased because Sun is considered silent hours. The whole day was spent playing PS2 and Chinese chess save for the occasional phone call back to the sqn. Since the 1st shift on Mon was to start at the unearthly hour of 6, couldn’t sleep late. After doing the required servicing, I got the rest of the day off. But due to paperwork and the damn bowser, got delayed till 11 am before I could leave. Lucky I got a ride out this time round.

When home to sleep, and decided against going down earlier to Jurong to find Aud for lunch because 2 more hours of sleep was too good to pass up this time round. When for my driving lesson later in the evening in the area. After the lesson, it was back home to sleep, round 2. Woke up for dinner, den after watching TV and chatting online, went for round 3 of sleep.

The rest of the week has been the usual, go to camp, do work, go home, sleep and repeat. Doing afternoon shift these few days, so I won’t be online anytime before 12am, save for the mornings before I go to camp.

It’s time for me to go to camp again. Ciao.

Relaxing One Corner

As I've mentioned before, I've been off for the past few days. Spent these 2 days learning driving and catching up with friends, but besides that, I've been spending most of my time catching up on sleep, and computer games... I never realised how deprived I was of sleep till now, where with no fixed time to wake up let me sleep late into the morning. Feels great sia... too bad it has to come to an end soon.

On another note, tommorrow is going to be the first Sat in a very long time whereby I need not wake up early in the morning, don my uniform/red t-shirt and pants, and going to move water and food. Somehow, after doing it for so many months, I've finally got the hang of it and its over. Wonder how it would feel, having my Saturdays for me to do whatever I want to do with it...

Anyway, my tagboard doesn't seem to be behaving this week, and I'm still pretty clueless at what seems to be causing it to act the way it is, so I've upgraded my comments system. So use that if you are having trouble wif e tag.

*Note to Ms. Confused (you should know who you are), it takes one to know one. The walls that you build can come down, no matter how perfect it is. Its a matter of whether you want to let anyone chip at the wall, without you repairing it. A smiling face is just a mask that you wear so that you do not have to show the world your true feelings, but its a mask that you have grown so attached to, you feel that cannot live without it. Let the people around you see past the mask, and allow someone to make a door in the wall that surrounds you.

National Day!

Yesterday was National Day, and the final time I had to go down to Marina Promenade to do ration and support. It was a proud day, to be instrumental in the success of the parade, but also a sad day. It’s the last time that I will be seeing most of the people that I have been working side by side or with for the past 6 months. Whilst a large number of the ration and support are from Sembawang Airbase the others who are not, the chances of meeting them again are slim. This would also mark the end of my off collection. And since I’ve been using my off to learn my driving, I got to start using the off much more carefully from now on.

Also don’t get to see the cute girls every week too… Now it’s a question on whether they want to see me. Haha… And in case the cute girls don’t know who they are… they are Amelia, Kelly, and Paullyn. I know that I said you gals were not the only bunch of girls at the NDP, but yes you are the cutest ones. I still don’t have the picture yet, they are all still on a dSLR belonging to Mr Foo. But since he doesn’t know this blog exist (I sure hope not), I shan’t drop any hints here. Haha…

Going home yesterday was a pain, and I realised that the NDP Pass thing I was given was pretty useless, it could get me pass all the barriers because beyond the barrier was a wall of people. I ended up walking with Avtar all the way to Bugis from Marina Promenade, just to get a bus to go home. The MRT itself was already too packed with people so I decided to go bus hopping to get home. Carrying a carton of H-two-O home also didn’t help me much. When I finally got to Bugis Junction, after walking an agonising 15 mins, I managed to get a bus to Sim Lim Square, where I got another bus home. By the time I reached home, it was 12 am. A far cry from the 2 am that I was expecting to get home by.

There will be a party for the logistics people in the near future according to Maj Pang, who I think might be giving us a treat, because we have been rated the best support the NDP has seen in a long time! Yay! Finally get to go to a place where I won’t need to move the food, serve the drink and clear the trash there after. Just go there eat and make merry. I also hear that I will get a cert. in some ceremony in the near future for the support provided at the NDP. Hmmm… Wonder if it’s going to be any use next time when I’m applying for a job. Hope that they have a criteria that says, “Any previous NDP experience?”

Anyway, Today is a stand-down for all NDP personnel, but I’m also taking Thurs and Fri off. Can’t bear to go back to squadron and face that Pikachu. Wait for nothing will kanna lightning strike again. Must find a pokemon ball and capture him one of these days. But besides driving on Thurs and most likely Fri, I will be free. So if anyone wants to jio me out, I’m available in the mornings and evenings… *hint hint*

Ya btw, I finally got down to changing my blog background after the incessant complaining frm CW, I hope you like it.

Last rehearsal

Last Sat was the final rehearsal for this year's NDP. They did a single extended run and called it a day. Everyone deserved a rest after the months of continous training every Sat since March. The time has finally come, the National Day, tommorrow at 5.30. But there is no rest for some of us, who have to collect the funpacks and water. At least I got a funpack, though I don't get to see the show. Its been a tiring half day, collecting the water and funpacks... *yawn* Time to snooze...Zzzzz

Week~!

Today is Friday and it has been a somewhat hectic week for me. The good thing is that this whole week I only went to camp for about 2 ½ days. Mon I was on guard till Tues morning, went home for guard off later than expected. Got held up clearing all the paperwork. By the time I got home, it was already 12pm. Took a short rest, then went out to meet Audrey for lunch. Hung out in the new Jurong East Library afterwards, till my driving lesson in the evening.

I must say, it can be scary to filter into a main road, esp. if the vehicles are coming off a hill and you cannot see them till they are at the top of the hill. The driving lesson ran in a circuit, driving down a quiet winding road till it reached the main road which brought me back to the beginning of the quiet road again. It was quite intimidating to filter into the main road, which resulted in the car stalling a few times. But after about 7-10 loops, I more or less got the hang of it.

The next day I took an off, and again went for a driving lesson. This time, I went on a long drive around the area, ending up in Boon Lay at some point. Still had problems with the clutch, but at least the car stalled no more than 10 times during the whole lesson. One major stalling area was when the car was stopped on a slight incline, but managed to get moving after a couple of tries. My lesson was about to come to an end when it suddenly started raining like crazy. Lucky I didn’t have to travel far, because visibility was pretty poor. At least I got a chance to experience what driving in wet weather was like.

After the lesson, went over to CW’s place to meet Aud and him for lunch. Too bad Aud had some work commitments and couldn’t make it at the last moment. Spent the day watching CW tinker around with his blog and its background. That inspired me to change the layout for my blog too… Will be getting to the background once I find something I like to place as the background. Closer to the evening, watched and timed CW as he played Dynasty Warriors. This game seems to have a sedative effect on me, because every time I watch this game being played, I fall asleep. Hmmm…. I wonder why…?

Thurs passed as any other day in camp, doing all the work, getting overworked and going home late. The usual. Decided to take Friday(which is today) MC as my knee was still hurting from the injury during basketball the week before. When I went to see a doctor at the polyclinic, I got what I must say, the lousiest doctor in the place. After going in and telling him my problem, he asked me: “The SAF has one of the best medicine around, why did you come here to see me? You should go and see your MO about your problem, shouldn’t come and see me.” What he said completely caught me by surprise! In all my years of seeing doctors, he is the first to say something like that. If he felt that seeing NS men were such a chore, well then, quit! I was about to tick him off right there and then, but I felt that it would be a waste of my time. Better to spend it writing a complain letter to the NHG about him. Since he’s so disgruntled about his job, I should put him out of his misery. But on the other hand, why should I put him out of his misery? Should let him stay there and rot. Hmmm… contemplate that later… Any suggestions?
